An out-of-work actress convalescing from an illness, Samantha supposed she ought to be grateful to her sister Lisa for inviting her to spend the summer near Stratford-on-Avon — but there were several snags. First, Samantha was not at all looking forward to helping with Lisa’s two unruly children. And still less did she relish the thought of Doctor Elliott. Nothing she could do was right in his eyes — while nothing her friend Alison did was wrong. However, Samantha did in time change her opinion of Mark Elliott very considerably — but how could she possibly hurt Alison by showing Mark how she felt?
