Husband-and-wife team Major Patrick Gillard and novelist Ingrid Langley, employed by Britain's Secret Service, attend the funeral of beloved co-worker Terry, blown up in his car. Still grieving, the pair must investigate the murder of another MI5 operative at a country house near Longcoombe.
