Why is José Clemente Orozco (18831949) work still relevant? As a game between temporalities, this catalogue accompanies the exhibition José Clemente Orozco: Final Cut (held at the Arizona State University Art Museum in 2021) and revises the artistœs late production and displays a selection of unseen materials from his personal archive, realizing the complexity of its creative processes and, contributing fresh discussions about this period of the artist. Deploying a selection of unpublished materials from his personal file, this book also puts into dialogue the painter's echoes in contemporary artistic practices in Guadalajara, where his footprint is still inescapable today. Includes works by José Clemente Orozco, Karian Amaya Ozaeta, Isa Carrillo, Claudia Cisneros, Cynthia Gutiérrez, Gonzalo Lebrija, Lourdes Martínez, Eamon Ore-Giron, Eduardo Sarabia, Emanuel Tovar & Luis Alfonso Villalobos. Includes new scholarship written about his final years with texts by Dafne Cruz Porchini, Miki Garcia, Julio César Morales & José Clemente Orozco Farías.
