Pigeon Summer

Mary's father has left home in search of work; her mother is struggling to feed a hungry family. But Mary's thought turn increasingly from present troubles to distant dreams, carried on the wings of Speedwell, her father's racing pigeon, bound for France and - just maybe - for racing glory.
