Bovenbouw Architectuur

'Bovenbouw 'provides an insight into the multifaceted practice and the rich frame of reference of the Antwerp architectural firm of the same name. It appears on the occasion of the exhibition 'The House of the Explorer', organized by the Flemish Architecture Institute at deSingel International Art Campus in the spring of 2019. The book and the exhibition are interpreted complementary; autonomous but all the more rich if read together. The characteristic design attitude of Bovenbouw controls the book as much as the projects that appear in it. An extensive conceptual apparatus is mapped out in an intuitive but well thought-out way and with the necessary sense of humor. Dirk Somers is assisted by Bart Verschaffel and Maarten Van Den Driessche to formulate the various fascinations that guide the work.
