This document provides a general description of Skylab space experiments in life sciences, solar physics, Earth observations, astrophysics, material science and manufacturing in space, and engineering and technology. Individual experiments are described in good detail, with about two or three pages per experiment. Many of them have line drawing illustrations and there are a few photos. The format lists the experiment title, the Principal Investigator, Development Center and Contractor, Statement of Objectives, Background as to why the experiment is valuable, Hardware description, Protocol, and Data return. The book starts with an introduction of "The Skylab Experiment Program." It does not include a description of experiment results.
There are 19 experiments under Life Sciences, such as Bioassay of Body Fluids, Bone Mineral Measurement, Cytogenetic Studies of the Blood, Man's Immunity In-Vitro Aspects, Red Blood Cell Metabolism, Sleep Monitoring, and Circadian Rhythm - Pocket Mice.
There are 7 experiments under Solar Physics, such as X-Ray / UV Solar Photography, The H-Alpha Telescopes, UV Scanning Polychromator Spectrohelimeter, and XUV Spectrograph / Spectroheliograph.
There are 5 experiments under Earth Observations, such as Multispectral Photographic Facility, Infrared Spectrometer, Multispectral Scanner, and L-Band Microwave Radiometer.
There are 7 experiments under Astrophysics, such as Nuclear Emulsion, UV Airglow Horizon Photography, Gegenschein / Zodiacal Light, and Particle Collection.
There are 7 experiments under Material Science and Manufacturing in Space, such as Zero Gravity Flammability, Exothermic Brazing, Composite Casting, and GaAs Crystal Growth.
There are 13 experiments under Engineering and Technology, such as Radiation in Spacecraft, Thermal Control Coatings, Astronaut Maneuvering Equipment, and Contamination Measurements.
