Collection of 21 papers focusing on the Alaska Beaufort Shelf environment written after the culmination of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program. Four sections: introduction to the Beaufort Sea; the physical environment including meteorology, oceanography, offshore permafrost, sea ice, and geology; marine biology and ecology; and the potential impact of an offshore oil well blowout.
