Suicide among youth

This volume brings together ongoing empirical studies on youth suicide from more than 20 international contributors- all of them leaders on this national dilemma. Among the many issues discussed in this text are the psychosocial characteristics of young people who commit suicide; the use of medical examination records in predicting risk factors; the integration of epidemiological data regarding longitudinal, demographic, cross-cultural, and high risk groups; the link between suicide and depression; and family psychopathology, genetics, and life event stress as predictive factors for youth suicide. New studies on the effects of mass media stories on fluctuations in youth suicide are presented, along with research on the disturbing phenomenon of suicide clustering and the role of imitative behavior.
